Five minutes a day
Advice to start writing. And maybe lessen anxiety. Or the desire for violence.
I’ve been meaning to start writing on Substack ever since I left Meta. Actually, even before that, but it’s been a question of energy, time, and topic worth “musing” about.
Today, in short succession, I read about the Department of Homeland Security now allowing for surveillance based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
And then I read an email with advice on writing JUST five minutes a day to start building a practice.
So here I am. Terrified. Furious. And writing with a timer at my side.
If you, too, are alarmed by this infringement upon so many Americans’ right to privacy, then PLEASE contact your legislators about the matter. Tyrannies begin with infringing upon one easily-villainized subset of a culture, then, emboldened, spread further.
As someone who fits this surveillance category, and one who loves others who fit it, I urge you to think of people you care about (even remotely) and take action.
For those who want more info:
And now my five minutes is up.
